Sabotage Proven In Miss Puerto Rico Beauty Competition

The authorities in Puerto Rico today confirmed that someone tried to sabotage a beauty contestant’s bid to become Miss Puerto Rico Universe 2008 Pageant by dousing her garments with pepper spray. The bathing suit that Rivera wore during the competition’s final round have tested positive for pepper spray.

Earlier, Ingrid Marie Rivera claimed that her evening gown, makeup brush and swimsuit had been laced with pepper spray. Aol.com describes this drama in more detail.

Rivera said that the spray that was put on her gown and in her makeup. This caused her to break out in hives the day of the pageant and forced her to constantly ice her body between segments to reduce swelling. Even with all of that drama, Rivera came up on top at the end of the competition and was crowned Miss Puerto Rico.

Access Hollywood quotes Rivera as saying,

I took my brush and it was wet, kind of wet feeling and I brushed on my face and my chest because I had a strapless dress and less than a minute after I became swollen and reddish.

The police are expected to report the results of their three-week-long investigation to the district attorney who will then decide whether to file charges against the suspect, a volunteer at the pageant.
