Zhang Zi Lin is the new Miss World. On December 2, the 23-year-old beauty from Beijing was crowned Miss World 2007. The audience in the 2,000-seat Beauty Crown Theater in the resort of Sanya cheered with delight when Zhang Zi Lin was named the winner.

The current Miss China, Zhang Zi Lin hails from Shijiazhaung, a gritty industrial city in the northern Hebei province, and says that her favorite foods are chocolate and ice cream.

As novinite.com reports:

Miss Angola, Micaela Reis, was the runner-up, while Miss Mexico, Carolina Moran Gordillo, came third.

The contest coincided with World Aids Day in an effort to raise awareness of the disease and shortly before she was announced the the winner, Zhang made an impassioned promise to the public.

“I want to use the power and beauty of Miss World to support those in need.”

Now officially recognized as one of the world’s most beautiful women, Zhang is certain to become a role model for a generation of Chinese women. Our sincere congratulations to Zhang.
