The Beauty Blog is signing off until January 7th when I’ll be back from holidays. Therefore, suffice to say, I wish you all a very special New Year’s holiday spent with close friends and family, and every success in the promising forthcoming year.
Have a safe, happy and beautiful holiday. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all of you!
The caviar-based cream, which is produced by extracting vitelline - or yolk sac - from the sturgeon eggs, reportedly contains phospholipids and is key to hydrating and softening. According to azcentral.com, Baerii sturgeon is reared on farms in the South of France to produce the culinary delicacy of fish eggs.
Smoky Eyes Powder Pencil from Elizabeth Arden is a creamy powder pencil with a smudger on the other end. This special pencil is used as an eyebrow definer in a pinch and is available in five colors.
I have Sueded Browns and Velvet Plumtones, both gorgeous, rich colors. If you have hazel eyes, both of these palettes look amazing. The pigments are great and the colors are long lasting
Makeup minute keeps this pencil almost always and carries everywhere. “ I used the eyeshadows in conjunction with Elizabeth Arden’s Smoky Eye Powder Pencils (Espresso and Smokey Black). Totally loved how easily and effortlessly the line blended using the foam tip to create that gorgeous sexy smoky eye.”
This beauty product is available on Beauty.com for $16.
Now that Santa has come and gone and Christmas is officially over, our thoughts start turning to New Year’s resolutions. Actually, with just a few days to go before 2008 is ushered in, it’s officially time to do so.
While some will vow to lose 20lbs, quit smoking or drinking, or start working out on a regular basis, beauty bloggers are perhaps more realistic, and certainly concentrate on resolutions that are smaller, simpler and nicer.
For example, that’sfit blogger has made it her New Year’s resolution to rethink her eyebrows.
Sure I attempt to shape them and create the perfect arch but I know that I often work with the wrong tools and go way overboard, resulting in red blotches from tweezing too hard and a way-too-thin shape.
My fashion resolution is to wear more pretty things (baby food stained tee shirts be gone!) and I’m going to start with this cute and versatile dress from Yu Clothing.
Victoria Beckham, the Spice Girl known as Posh and just as well known as the wife of David Beckham, has graced the latest cover of Elle. Photography took place two months ago in Paris, France.
“I’m writing my blog to you from a cover photo shoot for American Elle which I’m doing in Paris. It’s going really well so far and the clothes I’m wearing are incredible.”
The blogger behind Celebrity Vortex, who is also a subscriber of Elle is excited to see Beckham on cover page.
She looks great! I love the androgynous look she’s rocking. I have a subscription, so once it comes, I’ll be certain to scan it for you!
Beckham truly looks nice, and we hope that she enjoyed the whole project.
Gabrielle Reece, the professional volleyball player turned model, author, magazine columnist and television sports commentator, is expecting her second child with husband Laird Hamilton early next year. She has also recently opened up about her favorite beauty products, splurges and secrets.
“Epicuren sunblock, Alafia African black soap for my face, 100% coconut oil for the skin on my body, mascara, and now that I have kids who fly with me often, I shamefully admit a portable DVD player.”
According to Celebrity Baby Blog, in announcing her second pregnancy, Reece also made mention of her future plans to introduce fitness routines for each trimester. Reece and her personal trainer Mike Monroe will create three new workout DVDs, which will be available in January 2008.
Pixel Pink, the fourth and last limited-edition shade in the Lancôme Pout-à-Porter series, will be available from March 2008. Pixel Pink is co-designed with Gucci Westman, Lancôme’s erstwhile artistic director, who recently ended her tenure with the cosmetics giant.
This sheer and glossy berry pink has been seen at the Thakoon Spring 2008 runway show this past September. All of the models in the show sported the lipstick. Pixel Pink will be available in limited quantities exclusively at Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman, Lancôme’s five U.S. boutiques and Lancome-USA.com with a suggested retail price of $24.
Blogdorf Goodman comments on what some think it might be the last product from the Gucci Westman and Lancome collaboration.
She has her finger on the pulse of what beauty junkies need and covet. I am hoping that Lancome continues to work with a makeup artist and develop lippies that make us all bombard the stores with orders and general begging.
The waiting list for Pixel Pink should reportedly start from February 2008.
I’ve had it on for about 15 minutes. Yea, I know, not a long time. I’ll probably have more to say about it after tomorrow–when I wear it for a full day at work and in the weather!
We hope this new product line will find a place on your beauty table among other items.

Hairdressers in Iraq have been forced underground due to violent attacks on beauty salons by Moslem extremists. The Global Report From Down Under reports that besides beauty salons, militants have also targeted liquor stores and barber shops.
Hardline Muslim extremists who believe it is sinful for women to flaunt their beauty in public have forced many beauticians to move their trade underground. The extremists began blowing up salons roughly two years ago. Since then, they have killed several stylists and bullied others into putting down their scissors and makeup brushes for good, all in an effort to stamp out what they view as the corrupting spread of Western culture.
According to Pat Dollard, the latest attack on a salon was on 13 December in the city of Mosul northwest of the capital. Gunmen stormed the home of a woman who was running a beauty parlor out of one room.
To those outside of Iraq, the prospect of being killed just for frequenting a hair salon might seem a convincing reason not to go. But despite being targeted by militants, stylists say women here still want to look good - and stylish. Refusing to get a haircut or having their makeup done would be giving in to the violence and despair surrounding them.
It isn’t known how many secret salons exist in Iraq, but many women work on clients at home. Such “underground arrangements” cut into profits because the beauticians can easily deal with women they already know.
